Moving Guidelines

1.) Small items must be packed in sealed boxes. Any article that needs to be disassembled or disconnected must be done before the movers arrive (i.e. beds, mirror on dresser, w/d hoses unhooked, electronics unplugged, etc.). If you would like the movers to assist with any of the above, you can deal with them on a gratuity basis to have it done. However, we cannot guarantee that they will have the necessary tools available nor do we take responsibility whatsoever for this work.

2.) Only clothing may be left in drawers. However, please use your best judgment on how much you leave in there, especially if it is an exceptionally heavy piece or if there are a lot of stairs involved. By removing the contents, you greatly decrease the risk of damage. In the event that the movers have to remove the drawers and carry them separately because you have packed them too full, we will have to charge one point per drawer carried.

3.) Articles that are exceptionally fragile or valuable will not be handled unless they are properly packaged and identified by the owner. These items include lamps, shades, plants, pictures, mirrors and glass table tops. The movers do not provide boxes and tape nor do they pack them.

4.) The time that we quote you for the movers to arrive within should be considered firm but can change according to various factors. These include vehicle problems, weather and customers scheduled before you. Our point system allows us to run on schedule most of the time; however, there are times when the crew will be running late. If this situation arises, we will contact you as soon as possible. Please leave your home phone in service one day after you move and connect your new home phone one day prior to you move date. Please keep any cell phones or pagers turned on. If we leave you a message, please promptly return our call.

5.) Payment is expected at the time of the move unless other arrangements have been made. We accept cash, check or money order on the day of the move. We also accept Mastercard, VISA, Discover and American Express if the card number is called into the office at least one day prior to the move. No personal checks will be accepted on moves going into storage or for moves where we are only loading your vehicle. No out-of-state or counter checks will be accepted.

Moving Tips

15 to 30 Days before Your Move

• Get rid of anything you aren't bringing with you.
• Dispose of household chemicals like old paint and car oil.
• Make a list of everything you're bringing to your new home.
• Find out the replacement value of all belongings for your insurance purposes.
• Get copies of your medical and dental records, if necessary.
• Find out about auto licensing in your new state.
• Notify your children's schools and have their records transferred to the new schools.

7 to 14 Days before Your Move

• Make arrangements to disconnect gas, electric and other utilities.
• Make arrangements to connect utilities at your new home.
• Review your contract to make sure the address, zip code, feet and date are correct.
• Call if changes are needed. Make sure we have a phone number on file to reach you at your destination city.
